Ten on Ten: September

I can’t believe it’s been an entire month since my first Ten on Ten in August! This month’s version is pretty special to me since it shows just how my daily life has changed in such a short period of time. Last month, I started my Ten on Ten on a hot summer morning (ok, it was almost noon by the time I got up) in Grenoble. I took a leisurely stroll to the market, had lunch, hung out with my cat, took another walk in my neighbourhood and finished the day off with my tripod in the city center.

Yesterday, I woke up bright and early in my new apartment. I had a squishy metro ride on my way to work and after a very long day, I took a walk through the 2nd arrondissement to finally take some photos. I work on a really lively street where the restaurants and bars were full even on a Tuesday evening. The weather in Paris turned crisp (aka pretty cold) in a matter of days, so I was hoping that my stubborn commitment to the Ten on Ten wouldn’t result in a cold on the 11th.

Yes, I was a bit late getting out the door in the morning, but the nice thing about working a lot is that you can come in a bit late as well, when you realize that most of your clothes need extreme ironing.

I finally live in the city with the most iconic metro signs!

See? I told you I work late. On my way back home, the cafés were still full with happy-go-lucky people who probably get to work earlier and can therefore enjoy more of their evenings. Pf! I prefer extra sleep.

Could this be the chandelier of a 5 star restaurant? Nope, it’s the chandelier of a hair salon (also probably 5 stars).

This street has everything, even a good old-fashioned candy store.

Ever since I moved to Paris, I’ve been a bit obsessed with the sky (probably because I have an apartment where I can actually see the sky from my terrace, and not just a small glimpse between buildings).

I’m still walking down the same street and every time that I pass this giant snail, I have to smile.

That’s the photo at the very top of the post. It’s just in front of the Pompidou Center. I normally don’t take this scenic route back home, but that’s what the Ten on Ten is for – to snap you out of your daily routine and start noticing all the beautiful things around you.

8:28 pm

A few blocks away from the Pompidou Center is the Hotel de Ville, which is quite majestic, especially when lit up (which I found out happens at 8:30 pm).

As a reminder, the Ten on Ten project was started by French Lily and the rules are simple: just take 10 photos on the 10th of every month.

Great captures Lisa! So majestic and serene (I love how you show Paris sans crowds). I love that I can get a glimpse of your new daily life in Paris. I just want to see more and more! (I hope I remember to try 10 on 10 next month.)

Thanks! Glad you like the photos :) You should definitely try the Ten on Ten. I actually almost forgot and had to run back up to my apartment to get my camera, but I’m very happy that I did.

I love this! I recognise a few of the places in your pictures too and it made me feel a little home sick. It’s surprising how homesick I feel for somewhere I only lived for 9 months of my life.

Gosh, you are just going to have the best time living in Paris.

I get that feeling for all the places where I’ve lived. Oh nostalgia!

Merci :) Wow, tu habitais vraiment au centre. Chanseuse ! Moi, j’habite un peu plus loin, mais j’essaie de me promener souvent dans le centre ville pour prendre des photos.
